Our Wedding: The Wedding Party

January 20, 2018

What type of wedding would it be if we weren’t surrounded by our friends and family. The people we hold dear and the people who only want the best for us. Well, it wouldn’t be much of a celebration. Kevin and I decided on having a smaller wedding party ,early into our engagement, as we don’t have many friends. HAHA joking! Actually, the wedding theme was small and romantic. I can’t speak for Kevin but I wanted to have the…

Our Wedding: The Ceremony

January 18, 2018

Wow, this is long overdue. I’ve been meaning to write a blog about my wedding since…well, June 2017 after it took place. This will be a four part series of blog posts. They will showcase the wedding ceremony, reception, the wedding party and just photos of Kevin and I. First I want to show you our ceremony, which to me, is the reason anyone gets married. You know, the vows and all that formal stuff. I will be introducing you…

First Family Trip

April 21, 2017

Now that Hudson is 6 months old, we thought it would be the perfect time to go on our first family vacation. We were originally tossing the idea of Hawaii around, but decided against it because we didn’t know how he would handle traveling and sleeping in a strange place. We thought it would be better to stay somewhat local, so if the shit hit the fan, we could just drive home. Kevin came up with the idea of Tofino…

Stop the Mom Guilt

March 2, 2017

I am a relatively new mom (Hudson is 5 months old); and although I’m new in the game, I have both witnessed and been a victim of the dreaded “mom guilt.” It drives me bananas! It is time for us moms to put our foot down and say, “Let me do what I feel is best for myself and my child!”   Below are five things that I have been made to feel guilty about—because of other people as…

New Blog Name

February 15, 2017
Vancouver Mom Blog

You may have noticed the name of my blog has changed. Before it was under my personal name, but it is now called “Dear Hudson.” I wanted to change it because the reason I’m blogging is so that Hudson can go back and read what we did as a family, how he was as a baby, and my random and candid thoughts. Also, nobody knows who I am (or cares haha!) and having a blog named after myself and not…

Four Months Old

February 8, 2017

First off, where did the time go? These last couple months have flown by, and I think it’s because Hudson and I are starting to get in our own rhythm/routine. I’m able to read his cues a lot easier now, so it’s easy to attend to his needs.     Month Four is a huge milestone, and you can really see it in his development. Seeing Hudson coo, laugh, giggle and start to recognize certain people is really fun. Even…

“Sleep Training”

February 2, 2017

Hudson has been sleeping through the night since week 9. He falls asleep at 7:30pm and sleeps for a full 12 hours. When I tell this to other new parents, I usually get a stunned look and a response of, “I hate you.” Many people have asked if we sleep trained Hudson, but I wouldn’t call it that. We just followed some simple rules that we found worked for all of us.   Disclaimer: Every baby is different and not…

I’m super blessed to have two amazing sisters and a Mom who love Hudson and spoil him. They also know how to put on an amazing baby shower. And that’s what I got! My sister Laura, who is a local business socialite (you can check out her blog here, brought goodies from some local businesses like; The Habit Project – Nut mylks Bebe De Luxe – Coconut and oat milk bath Reddy Made Cakes – Cake Shop Tineke – Cake topper…

People Always Ask

December 19, 2016

Now that I’ve “levelled up” in the adult world and had a baby, people always ask me if I want another. And you know what? That’s a really difficult question to answer when my baby is still considered a newborn and the birth is still very clear and vivid in my memory. My sister is convinced I’ll be pregnant again within two years, but I’ve told her not to hold her breath. So to answer the ubiquitous question “Do…

Two Months Old

December 8, 2016

Part 1   It has been a full month since posting my first month experiences of being a new Mom…and in one month, a lot has changed! I’m easing into the “Mom role” a little more each day. I am much more relaxed when handling the simple, everyday tasks that prove to be—well, not so simple! For example:   Leaving the house. What you’d think might be a one-and-done decision turns into a barrage of questions. How do I most…
